Summer School “Ukraine in European Union Summer School” in Krakow*

We are pleased to announce that the continuation of the cooperation between the Communal Institution “Center for Professional Development of Educators” and the Polish Ignatianum Foundation became possible thanks to the participation of our teachers and students in the “UA in EU Summer School,” which took place from September 9 to 11. The event was organized by the Institute of Political Science, the administration of Ignatianum University in Krakow, and the Regional Center for International Debates in Krakow.

Representing the Stryi community were: Lyubomira Ortinska, computer science teacher at Stryi Gymnasium No. 7 and consultant at the Center for Professional Development of Educators; Romana Korostynska, computer science teacher at Nezhukhiv Lyceum; and students from grades 10-11: Anastasia Kashchiy, Andriy Mokrytskyi, Bohdan Radevych, Anastasia Olianyn, and Zlatoslava Dmytrenko. These students participated in the “Future4Refugees” project and completed an online course. Their participation in the summer school was a continuation of the collaboration within the project.

During the Summer School, participants explored what negotiations would look like in practice, assessed the readiness of Ukrainian state structures for this process, and discussed the challenges that may arise for Ukraine along the way. Additionally, students examined the experiences of other candidate countries and researched both technical and political tools that could help make the process smoother. An important part of the school included workshops on European funds available to Ukraine and for Polish-Ukrainian cooperation.

The faculty included Polish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, and Czech researchers, analysts, and practitioners in European affairs, while participants were Ukrainian and Polish students studying social sciences and actively engaged in public life. We express our heartfelt gratitude to Professor Artur Wolik, Kristina Potapenko, Bohdana Huriy, and Stanislav Alwasiak for organizing and inspiring the Summer School in Krakow.
